Ally Claims PSA Bress Breda Open Title

Karakal’s Alison Thomson edged out home favourite Tessa ter Sluis of the Netherlands in a five-game thriller yesterday, to claim the @‌PSAChallengerTour Bress Breda Squash Open title.

Scottish national champion Ally, was seeded two in the event and had only dropped one game en route to the final. Standing in her way was Dutch number three Tessa, who had seen off dangerous American wildcard Laila Sedky in the semis.

As the match warmed up both players went toe-to-toe for close to an hour with Ally taking the first game 11-6, before Tessa pulled level at 1-1.

A tight third game once again took Ally into the lead, before she was again pegged back to 2-2 by her determined opponent.

The decider was a tense affair that saw the home player with a slight 7-6 lead, before the momentum shifted, with Ally reeling off five of the next six points to clinch glory.

The men's final was won by top seed Yassin Elshafei of Egypt. Congratulations to both champions.
