
Joel Makin and Tesni Murphy Secure 2025 British National Titles

The 2025 British National Squash Championships concluded at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club, Weybridge, with Welsh players Joel Makin and Tesni Murphy both winning their third national titles.
World No. 4 Joel produced a controlled performance to defeat England’s Nick Wall in straight games (11-4, 12-10, 11-3). It was Joel’s sixth consecutive Nationals final and his third overall title.
After the match, Joel commented on the challenge posed by his opponent:
“These guys are coming in as a bit of a free bet… he’s got a lot of good skills about him… I had to revert back to what I was doing well… hitting my spots and find my positions around the middle.”
In the women’s event, Tesni Murphy overcame 21-year-old Torrie Malik in four games (11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 11-9). Tesni’s experience proved decisive in the closing stages, as she claimed her third British Nationals crown.
