Karakal’s Emyr Evans Triumphs at the 2026 Odense Squash Open

Karakal sponsored player Emyr Evans has claimed the title at the 2026 Odense Squash Open, held at Odense Squash Club in Odense, Denmark, marking an impressive victory on the PSA Challenger Tour.

The tournament, part of the PSA Challenger 9 circuit, featured a strong international field competing for a $9,000 prize fund. Emyr, seeded No.2 for the event, delivered a series of composed performances throughout the week before lifting the trophy in the final.

Dominant Performance in the Final
In the championship match, the Welshman faced Malaysia’s Ameeshenraj Chandaran, who had also produced a strong run through the draw, but Emyr proved too strong on the day, securing the title with a straight-games victory, 11-7, 11-9, 12-10, in a competitive 58-minute contest.

Emyr's ability to control the rallies and maintain his composure at crucial moments proved decisive, particularly in the tight third game where he closed out the match and the tournament.

Strong Route Through the Draw
The Welsh international’s path to the title included several solid wins against a competitive field. After receiving a first-round bye as the No.2 seed, Emyr overcame Czech player Viktor Byrtus in the second round before defeating fellow Welshman Rhys Evans in the quarter-finals. He then progressed through the semi-finals to set up the title clash with Chandaran.

The victory represents another milestone in Emyr's PSA career and continues his steady progress on the professional tour.

A Proud Moment for Karakal
Emyr has been a valued member of the #KarakalKrew since he was a teenager and this latest success highlights both his determination and consistency on the international squash circuit. His victory in Denmark adds another PSA title to his growing list of achievements and reinforces his reputation as one of Wales’ leading squash professionals.

Everyone at Karakal congratulates Emyr on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to supporting him in the tournaments ahead.

The women’s title was won by Egypt’s Ruqayya Salem, who defeated fellow Egyptian Nour Megahed.
