Maiden PSA Tour Title for Emyr

Maiden PSA Tour Title for Emyr

Karakal's Emyr Evans secured his maiden PSA Tour victory at the Sutton Coldfield Squash International this weekend in England.

Emyr, World No.102, came into the tournament as the No.3 seed, and after receiving a bye in the opening round, started his campaign with a four-game victory against England’s Perry Malik, before then getting the better of another Englishman, No.5 seed Ben Smith.

The semi-finals saw Emyr get the better of compatriot Elliott Morris Devred in an all-Welsh encounter to move through to the final in straight games.

In his 8th Tour Final, Emyr faced No.2 seed Simon Herbert of England, and despite a stutter in the third game, closed out a convincing 3-1 44 minute win to claim the title.

The Women's final was won by Egypt’s Amina Orfi, as she claimed a second successive title with a 3-0 victory over Kaitlyn Watts of New Zealand.
